Maybe you even have read some books on writing sales copy or taken some high priced online course that promised to make you a world class copywriter overnight.

I am willing to bet that despite all of the promises and your best intentions to learn how to write direct response sales copy on your own that when it came time to actually sit down and write out the sales message that panic suddenly set in and you sat for several minutes (maybe even hours) staring at a blank computer screen wondering where to even start the process of writing your world class sales letter, landing page or email.

The truth is despite what any “GURUS” might have said it is NOT easy to learn how to write really good, true WORLD CLASS sales copy. I’m taking about the kind of copywriting that really gets to your prospect emotionally and hits all of their “Hot Buttons” and makes them pull out their wallet and buy whatever product or service you are selling.

I know how you feel because I was where you are now.

My journey to becoming a Freelance Direct Response Copywriter started as just being a small business owner trying to learn how to write better advertising for the small startup company I was running.

I knew that I needed really good sales copy that would convert my prospects into customers but I didn’t feel like I could afford to pay a high priced professional copywriter to get the job done.

I looked into cheaper options and it seemed all I could find were foreign speaking individuals who while very nice and hardworking were not formally trained in the finer aspects of really great direct response sales copywriting.

That’s when my journey to becoming a world class copywriter started.

For over four years I studied dozens of books on copywriting by all of the legends like John Caples, Victor Schwaub, David Ogilvy, Eugene Schwartz and modern day masters like Dan Kennedy.

I also spent almost ten thousand dollars on taking the top rated online courses on copywriting taught by the who’s who of world class copywriters.

The most important thing I did to really hone my skills was to acquire a collection of hundreds of examples of truly great advertising pieces written by all of the top copywriters of the last hundred years.

In addition to studying them over and over again I took a trick I learned from my copywriting hero John Carlton… which is in order to get really good at writing sales copy you hand write as many winning advertising pieces as you can over and over again. Every word, every punctuation and every highlight, capitalization and indent.

It is a VERY tedious thing and your hand will HURT like you wouldn’t believe from the cramping after an hour or so but there is no better way to ingrain into your mind how to really write truly great, powerful and compelling world class sales copy.

I literally did this exercise for several hours per day for OVER four years. It is what I really give credit to the skill that I now possess as a professional freelance copywriter that has the confidence to except ANY copywriting assignment and tackle it with the knowledge that I know what to write to get my clients the results that they need!
